Come discover the beautiful seaside Village of Falmouth, MA.
For your Cape Cod vacation, Falmouth offers a unique combination of New England history, outdoor splendor, recreational and tourism opportunities, and acclaimed scientific institutions, but it is the attraction of the sea that always provides a memorable and enjoyable visit. The town boasts 68 miles of coastline, along Vineyard Sound and Buzzards Bay, with 10 public beaches. Sparkling, sandy beaches are accessible within a mile of the Inn. Falmouth's warm waters make swimming, kayaking, and windsurfing enjoyable well into fall.
As pleasant as the beaches are, don't miss the area's nature preserves, hiking trails, golf and tennis, or the 10-mile Shining Sea Bikeway, which is accessible within feet of the Inn. The Bikeway (open to joggers and walkers, too) starts in North Falmouth and winds its way through marshland, cranberry bog, pined woods, and along open ocean vistas to the Village of Woods Hole. There you'll find the National Marine Fisheries Aquarium, which is the oldest research aquarium in the nation, and the Exhibit Center of the world-renowned Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
Explore the Cape, or spend the day on Martha's Vineyard.
If you feel like going a little further, consider a day exploring the entire Cape. Browse the myriad antique shops along historic Route 6A, or enjoy a day of sun at the magnificent beaches of the National Seashore. Take a trip to watch the whales in their ocean habitat or photograph the famed sand dunes of Provincetown. Martha's Vineyard is just a short ferry ride away. Daily service on the Steamship Authority leaves from Woods Hole year-round or Falmouth harbor seasonally.
Other options are to head "off Cape" to New Bedford, with its restored whaling village and exhibit center; Plymouth and the recreated Plimouth Plantation; Quincy and the John Adams National Historical Park; and Newport, RI and its famous mansions.
A short stroll from the Inn to Main Street takes you past Revolutionary War-period homes, the historic Village Green, and stately churches. Once on Main Street, you'll find interesting shops, entertainment, and restaurants to suit every taste. We are fortunate to have a variety of fine and nationally recognized dining choices and, of course, excellent seafood abounds.
Whatever your interests, we're happy to assist you with your sightseeing and dining plans to ensure that your visit to Cape Cod is relaxing and enjoyable.
